About AHRN
American Horse Rescue Network (AHRN) is a charitable organization dedicated to the welfare of equines in the USA.
We work to save and improve equine lives in the following ways:
- offering financial and other support to help rescue equines from cruelty, neglect and abandonment;
- offering grants to qualified equine organizations to help facilitate their rescue efforts and operations;
- developing and supporting humane education programs for America’s youth that instill respect for equines and foster a commitment to help improve equine lives;
- participating in a network of organizations and individuals as dedicated to equines as we are, and
- by increasing public awareness of the dangers and challenges faced by equines in America today.
About the American Horse Rescue Network
American Horse Rescue Network (AHRN) works to save and improve the lives of America’s equines by assisting equine rescues, participating in a network of organizations and individuals as dedicated to equines as we are, and increasing public awareness of the dangers and challenges faced by equines in America today.
The guiding inspiration behind AHRN’s founding is its president, Daryl Smoliak, who first envisioned AHRN after the death of the great Thoroughbred, Barbaro.
“I have wanted for a very long time to establish a nationwide organization to assist horse rescue facilities in the USA by offering them financial as well as business planning support.
“I also wanted this organization to provide education programs for America’s youth because it is so imperative that we provide a foundation for America’s next generation of horse advocates.
“I am blessed to have AHRN’s Board of Directors share my vision. They bring many years of equine and other animal rescue experience to our table. They also bring the skills that enabled them to succeed in their career fields such as law, medical research, veterinary science, engineering, sales, teaching, marketing, management, professional sports and entertainment.
“We are dedicated to these goals and determined to join others to bring them about and finally provide America’s equines—whose ancestors help found this country—with the happier and brighter future they have earned and so richly deserve.”
